Maurits van Wifferen owner of Tenso started from scratch. At the age of 15 he studied furniture making because of his passion to craft beautiful furniture pieces and tree houses. He learned the craftsmanship in Amsterdam, and after graduation he worked as an apprentice at several furniture makers.
In 2002, he established the Tenso Furniture Company in Zeist, near Utrecht, Netherlands.
His pieces gained increasing popularity and were fast becoming recognized in the country. In 2003 Maurits started to build his first treehouse. This treehouse became a big one of 24 m2 with plexiglass windows, heat insulation, electricity and beds. Meanwhile several treehouses have been built in The Netherlands and Belgium. October 2010 Maurits joined a Treehouse Workshop in Fall City, Washington.
